Tonight was a special evening with our friends who came last Monday, and 3 new friends they brought along, helping us have an early celebration of our 30th wedding anniversary. They brought lots of food and a delicious cake for our anniversary. All together we were 11 adults and 3 children. After eating, Ruth and I shared a little of our experience of marriage over the last 30 years and then we looked together at parts of Genesis 2 and 3. We pray that it was helpful and encouraging to them. 2 of the couples took Bibles home with them. Pray that they will read and come back with their questions. Next week we will not meet because they said that we should go out together to celebrate (next Monday is April 7th, our anniversary). We do, however, plan to meet again in 2 weeks. It looks like we have the beginnings of a regular Monday night small group.
Family update: John is working 2 cooking jobs in Vancouver and sharing a place with a friend. They are looking for a cheaper place to live. Peter is finishing up his semester at Emily Carr, with one more semester to go to graduate at the end of this year. He has bought a ticket to fly to Taiwan May 7th for 3 months, with plans to do an internship with a photography magazine here. Sarah has finished her job in Singapore and is packing up and saying goodbyes before flying to Taiwan April 14th, also for 3 months. Stephen is back working in Vancouver.
We are still waiting for word that our foster baby’s adoptive parents can come from Canada to take him home. He has been with us 5 months now. Leaving us will be a difficult adjustment for him - not understanding why we are suddenly not around. It will also be hard for us to say goodbye. His parents will stay with us for one week to have a short time of transition for them all. Pray with us and them that this can happen soon.
With love from Taiwan,
David and Ruth
