We see that the 6.3 level earthquake in Taiwan yesterday made the news in North America. We felt only a slight rocking here in Kaohsiung and so far no major damage or injuries have been reported. We are thankful for these “smaller” earthquakes that release pressure without major damage.
Our lives became considerably busier on Monday with the addition of a 10 month old boy to our home. He is awaiting adoption by a couple in Canada, but needs care until the adoption papers can all be completed here in Taiwan. Apparently the adoption laws changed recently which is slowing down the process.
Telling stories at the local elementary school is going well. When the school heard that David was going to speak in Taiwanese they filmed his talk and then asked if we could speak to 4 classes on rotation instead of the same class each week. As our goal is to have the children learn Bible stories we proposed speaking to 2 classes on alternating weeks with a Taiwanese believer (who David meets with Monday mornings) speaking on the weeks that we are not in the classes. That way the children hear a story each week. We hope to find other Taiwanese Christians to join in this ministry.
All for now. With love from Taiwan,
David and Ruth
