Many thanks to all of you who prayed for our supper with friends tonight. We had 3 couples and a 2 year old boy over for supper, and after supper I told the story of the woman caught in adultery who was brought to Jesus (John 8:1-11). They all listened and then we had everyone retell the story together around the table (each person saying a part of the story and then the next person continuing). Then I asked someone to read it from the Bible to make sure that I told it correctly!
We then discussed the story by answering a series of open-ended questions. At first they were not sure what to say, but as we went on they really got into answering the questions and we had a good discussion. At the end one lady told us how bad many marriages are here and they asked if we could share with them another week about our experience of marriage over the last 30 years. They also asked if they could bring some friends over to hear what we have to say. When I asked them how many people we should expect they said about 15 adults and children. They also said that if we provide the rice they will bring several main dishes to feed everyone.
Wouldn’t it be great if this turns into a regular Monday night small group! We covet your prayers for next Monday.
With love from Taiwan,
David and Ruth
