A lot has been happening here and now we are into the hot summer weather. Pray that we can pace ourselves well and have wisdom to know what to say, “no – can’t do that”, to!
Two weeks ago David went to Penang, Malaysia, with two colleagues for a “Simply The Story” (STS) workshop on Bible story telling. It was good to learn some new ideas for telling Bible stories and leading discussion. The three of us plan to offer workshops here in Taiwan to train more Taiwanese Christians in Bible story telling, as we see the value of this approach more and more in our own ministry.
Here is what our coworkers Bo and Elaine just wrote in their prayer letter:
“I think we mentioned "Mr. Gao" or "Gary" in previous letters. He is one of the security guards for our apartment building. Bo has been sharing Bible stories with him for several months now, and just recently had the joy of leading him to accept Christ as Lord of his life. It's pretty exciting to watch this new believer's enthusiasm to follow Christ. Please continue to pray for Gary, that his faith will continue to be strengthened daily, and that the Holy Spirit will empower him to live the Christian life.”
Please pray for our friends, Mr. and Mrs. Ko, and A-Tian and his wife,A-Shiang. They have started hearing the stories, but are not able to meet every week. We just try to make the most of every opportunity when we see them. The Ko’s have invited us out to lunch this Sunday. Both families follow traditional Taiwan folk religion.
Pray too for preparations for two summer camps we are holding in July. They will be for one week each, one at a local elementary school, and one at a farm. We are very thankful for a team of five coming from a church in Los Angeles and five young people coming from One Heart Church in Kaohsiung to help run the camps. It is especially encouraging for us to have these young people coming from One Heart Church where we served for four years when it was just getting started. There are a lot of details still to be worked out for the camps.
Next week, May 19-21, David will be in Taichung for OMF Field Council meetings. There is a lot on the agenda. Pray for energy and wisdom from the Lord as we discuss many issues related to OMF ministry in Taiwan.
Thank you for your prayers!
“As for other matters, brothers and sisters, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you.” 2 Thessalonians 3:1 (NIV)
With love in Christ,
