I am writing from our annual OMF Taiwan Field Conference which started yesterday and goes until Wednesday. We are here with all of our OMF Taiwan colleagues and a number of Taiwanese coworkers. I was so encouraged last night by 2 Taiwanese sisters in Christ who have a great burden to share God’s love and grace with their people. We had a long discussion after the evening meeting before one of them said, “It is getting late, so we should pray now and go to bed, but I have another question to ask you tomorrow!” Please pray that God will continue to sharpen us all to be more effective in serving Him here.
There are many new workers here at the conference who we are meeting for the first time. May God help us to encourage them. We hate to admit it, but some of them look so young! Did we look that young when we first arrived in Taiwan? We are so thankful for each one of them. Pray for them, and for us, as we labour on with language study.
Speaking of language, we spoke for half an hour to a grade one class at a local school on Thursday morning. Well, actually, Ruth spoke. I mostly just ran the powerpoint on the computer. Ruth did a great job introducing us and talking about Canada – all in Mandarin Chinese. Next week I will talk more about Canada and tell them a bear story. My Mandarin is coming along, but is still not up to story telling, so I will speak Taiwanese. In a couple of weeks we plan to start telling Bible stories. May God grant us favour with the school and open up other classes to speak to.
May you experience the love of Christ in a special way this week.
In His service,
David (and Ruth)
